Cal-Nev-Ari, NV

Cal-Nev-Ari is one of my favorite little desert campgrounds. The town is only but a blip on Highway 95 with the general store/RV park on one side and casino/restaurant on the other. But if you stroll through the residential area you'll be astonished to discover that a good portion of the population have private airplane hangars instead of garages and...there's a runway right through the middle of town. Occasionally you'll even see airplanes pull off the runway and park at the casino!

While the park itself is clearly a no-frills campground, it offers spectacular mountain vistas during sunset, close access to Christmas Tree Pass, and is 30 miles from my favorite casino-town on the Colorado River -- Laughlin, Nevada. 

I chose this campground because it's affordable, four hours from Quartzsite, and less than 2 hours from Vegas. 

The rates are $22 per night for full hookup. The monthly rate is $275 + electric.
